The Flash Season 3 Episode 2 Synopsis Deals With The Flashpoint Paradox

The CW has released the official synopsis for "Paradox," the second episode of The Flash's second season.

The reference to Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, an animated feature film that adapted the same comic book miniseries that The Flash's third season is (very liberally) adapting, seems pretty clear in the title -- but one has to wonder, given the time-travel nature of Flashpoint, what paradox exactly is being talked about.

In the comics, Flashpoint was a five-issue miniseries in which Barry Allen traveled back in time to save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse-Flash -- and his success in doing so created a butterfly effect that reverberated through the DC Universe, turning it into a desolate, violent world perched on the brink of global war.

“All of that stuff is not at our disposal, which is fine with us, because we really wanted to do something personal to Barry,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently said in an interview. “The stakes in the comic book inFlashpoint were global and the stakes in this episode are very much just about Barry, his existence, and the people that he loves.”

And of course, that's when Iris comes in. Because anybody who has seen The Flash, knows that it's always about Iris. And anybody who has read The Flash comics knows that it isn't just Iris: whether it's Barry and Iris or Wally and Linda, The Flash always has a "lightning rod," a special person in his life that can call him "home" from the Speed Force...or wherever his adventures take him.

THE AFTERMATH — Barry (Grant Gustin) realizes the effects from Flashpoint are much greater than he thought.

Meanwhile, Barry meets new co-worker Julian Albert (Tom Felton) and is surprised by Julian’s immediate disdain for Barry.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes begin on October 4 on The CW. "Paradox" airs Tuesday, October 11.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 Premiere Synopsis Released: "Out of Time"

The CW has released the official synopsis for "Out of Time," the season two premiere of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

The episode, which guest-stars Stephen Amell, will launch a week after the return of The Flash and Arrow. Was that just about shooting schedules, or might there be an in-story reason, considering that both The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow will deal with Matthew Letscher's Reverse-Flash this season? It's hard to say. Letscher isn't mentioned at all in the synopsis for this episode, in which the main villain seems to be Arrow season four big bad Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).

Nick Zano -- Nate "Citizen Steel" Heywood -- is also mentioned in the synopsis, but not any of the other members of the Justice Society of America who have been cast in the season, so it's hard to guess whether that means they aren't showing up quite yet, or just that Zano's character is the one who plays the biggest role.

LOST AND FOUND — GUEST STARRING STEPHEN AMELL — After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the exposure of the corrupt Time Masters, a new threat emerges.

Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action. After making a shocking discovery, Nate seeks out Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) for help in finding the scattered Legends. Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations - unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences.

Their first stop is 1942, to protect Albert Einstein from being kidnapped before the Nazis destroy New York City with a nuclear bomb. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) notices that Sara (Caity Lotz) has a mission of her own, which leads them both to face her nemesis, Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough). Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill, Dominic Purcell and Franz Drameh also star.

Supergirl Season 2 Premiere Synopsis Released: "The Adventures of Supergirl"

The CW has released the official synopsis for "The Adventures of Supergirl," the season two premiere of Supergirl, which will air on Monday, October 10 on the network.

As more or less everybody knows at this point, Supergirl's famous cousin will be coming to the series in the form of Tyler Hoechlin's Superman/Clark Kent. He's there to help with a crisis -- which up until now we had been assuming had to do with Mon-El, an alien who arrived at the end of season one in a Kryptonian escape pod like the ones that brought Superman and Supergirl to Earth.

Instead, it seems as though the two are unconnected. Could the more immediate threat to National City deal with Metallo, who we know will be a villain the two Kryptonians face at least at some point during the first two episodes of the season?

THE CW HAS A NEW HERO AND SHE’S BRINGING SUPERMAN WITH HER — When a new threat emerges in National City, Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with her cousin, Clark Kent/Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin), to stop it. Kara is thrilled to have family in town but it leaves Alex (Chyler Leigh) feeling a bit left out.

Meanwhile, Hank (David Harewood) and Supergirl are stunned by the pod that came crashing to Earth.

John Wick 2 To Have Twice As Much Action

When John Wick came to theaters two years ago, it became an instant cult classic, in no small part because of its amazing action sequences and the mix of violence, laughs, and skill that the film brought to them.

The next time around, they're going to be even better, according to filmmaker Chad Stahelski, who is directing the sequel after co-directing John Wick with producer David Leitch.

“I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie,” Stahleski told EW. “We took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive.”

The second film will delve more into the world of the first movie: they introduced the idea of this hotel where the baddest of the bad hang out, and now they're going to introduce more of those characters and let audiences learn more about their world beyond just their ties to the murder of John Wick's dog.

Pacific Rim 2 Adds Jing Tian To Cast

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary is doubling down on Chinese actress Jing Tian, adding the The Great Wall standout to the cast of their forthcoming sequel Pacific Rim 2.
