The Flash: What's Next For Cisco? Andrew Kreisberg and Carlos Valdes Answer

tonight's episode of The Flash belonged to Franz Drameh's Jay "Jax" Jackson -- the new Firestorm -- there was no shortage of teasing what's coming up for Cisco Ramon, Barry's tech guru and recently-revealed metahuman known to comic book fans as the onetime Justice Leaguer Vibe.

"I don't want to give too much away, but yeah," showrunner Kreisberg said following a screening of tonight's episode in Los Angeles last week. "One of the things for him is this evil man said, 'I gave you this gift,' and he's seen what happened to the other metahumans. Good or bad intentions, they all go nuts and they all get locked up. Cisco's really scared. He doesn't see what the benefit is yet. He doesn't see that it really is a gift and he doesn't see that it is a blessing and a power that can be used to help people. Right now, all he sees is the nightmare. That's what's really scary for him."
"All I know is that we're really hinting at some stuff from the Vibe lore, so things look good," said actor Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco, when asked about the possibility of suiting up during a recent visit to the set of The Flash. "I haven't' heard anything. I don't even know if that's in my future, so I don't like to make assumptions."
The nature of the power, too, plays into Cisco's reluctance to share his secret with the team and pursue his potentially-great destiny.
"It's not like he woke up and he can fly," Kreisberg added. "Not only is he scared about what it means to be a meta-human and all of that. He also feels like he drew the short straw. 'Barry got super speed and Ronnie gets to fly and me, I get these blinding headache nightmare visions of people being killed.' It's not at first blush the most heroic way to step into the world."
"I guess when you think about it objectively, on paper, considering that Cisco is such an eager personality, you would think he would be geeked about something like that happening to him," Valdes said. "But I think what the writers have done is actually much more interesting; they're flipping the expectation on its head and Cisco actually isn't responding well to what's happeing to him. It's not a good thing for him and he's very scared, and he doesn't know how to handle it. I like that."
The Flash airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The Walking Dead: [Spoiler]'s Supposed Death Will Be Addressed First Half of Season 6

So did Glenn die or not? Well, that's the question that's being debated all over the internet, with the next natural question being: when will we find out?!
Well, Scott Gimple, the showrunner of the top rated show on television, told THR that "it will be addressed this half-season." That means sometime in the next 5 episodes, between now and November 29, 2015's episode 8, we'll find out exactly what happened to Glenn, and if he survived that fall, what happens next.
"I'd say sooner rather than later," Gimple went on to tease. "People will know pretty damn quick."

The Walking Dead Showrunner Gives Definitive Answer About Rick's Cut Hand

In response to one of the most persistent inquiries ever on the series, The Walking Dead's Scott Gimple has given an update on the state of Rick Grimes's hand.

In the most recent episode, titled "Thank You," the series star was cut by a blade that had walker blood on it. This led many fans to wonder whether Rick could become infected and many more -- ourselves included -- to speculate that perhaps he might finally lose his hand (as he did in the comics).
That, along with the apparent death of another major character, has hounded producers and actors in all of their interviews this week, so showrunner Scott Gimple finally gave in and threw TVLine a bone on the Rick mystery -- arguably the less signfiicant of the two, since nobody really believed that he would die as a result of any potential infection.
"It’s entirely possible, but we haven’t really gotten into it on the show," said Gimple of the possibility that walker blood in an open wound could prove fatal. "I’m going to go out on a limb here and say something definitive: Rick is OK regarding that cut. His hand will survive. There will be a bandage. There will be some ointment involved. But he’s going to walk away from it."

The Walking Dead Cut Out Part of This Week's Most Shocking Scene

Hopefully at this point you've watched The Walking Dead's huge episode this week, "Thank You," but beware of spoilers ahead if somehow you haven't. EP and effects guru Greg Nicotero talked to EW.com about the scene, and he gave a little more insight into it than others have to this point.

"It seems pretty clear that somebody died in that sequence. Listen, you know, our show’s tough, dude. People die in very unsuspecting ways, so you kinda gotta let your eyes tell you what you saw," Nicotero said.

The scene was shot and choreographed in a very particular way, but not to deceive. "In a croud of 1,000 zombies - you may not get a 100% clear glimpse of what's happening," he said. He and showrunner Scott Gimple worked through the scene together closely and deliberately.

That includes the lead-in to that moment. Originally, there was additional dialogue, where Nicholas counted down the ammo he had left. Each time he shoots, he counts down, leading to him having "one bullet left." Nicotero also said his fall into Glenn was "not something that was intentional."

Unauthorized Star Wars: Darth Maul Game in Development

It may not be with EA Games (yet), but developer Red Fly is making their Darth Maul game anyway.
During a Q&A, Dan Borth, owner and CEO of Red Fly Studio, said that his team has been working on a canceled Star Wars: Darth Maul game as an extra piece on their own time. The work is being made to produce a full demo for the current generation of systems, then take that to EA, the exclusive publisher of console games in the Star Wars family for the next decade, with hopes of approval and a green light.
"We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again," Borth said during aReddit AMA. "IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us."

Man beats friend to death

A New Mexico man has reportedly beaten his friend to dead with the intention of stopping him from turning into a zombie after watching The Walking Dead.
23-year-old Christopher Paquin was allegedly beaten by 23-year-old Damon Perry, according to the AP. Perry told investigators they had been drinking when Paquin began "To change into a zombie," and tried to bite him.
Police say that Perry used his hands, feet, an electric guitar, and a microwave to beat Paquin. Sounds more like Dead Rising than Walking Dead, but in any case, authorities say that Perry attributed his actions to having recently binge-watched AMC's zombie drama, The Walking Dead, on Netflix.

Recasting Indiana Jones For Indiana Jones 5 Has Been Ruled Out

In the new issue of Total FilmIndiana Jones producer Frank Marshall said he still has to meet with the rest of creative team to figure out how to handle a fifth film in the series and the future of the franchise.
"There are a lot of rumours," Marshall admitted. "We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton."
Take the baton? Before you leap to the conclusion that Indy will be recast, Marshall made it clear they are "not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out."

Two New Spider Species Named After Spider-Man Actors

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the two most recent live-action actors to play Spider-Man onscreen, have been recognized with a pair of new spider species named after them.
The discovery of new species isn't particularly uncommon, especially in relatively unexplored areas.
These particular new species. According to that message, the spiders -- named Filistata maguirei and Pritha garfieldi -- are endemic to Iran and known only from the surroundings of Geno Biosphere Reserve (Hormozgan Province, southern Iran) and southern macroslopes of Alborz Mountains (Tehran Province, northern Iran); the full range of neither of the species is currently known. The two species were described by arachnologists Yuri M. Marusik (Magadan, Russia) and Alireza Zamani (Tehran, Iran) in the open access journal Arthropoda Selecta.

You can see their full paper here.
"Both new species belong to the family Filistatidae; commonly known as Crevice Weavers, these spiders are mostly nocturnal, prefer living in crevices and holes in rocks and walls and are common in and around houses and may also be found in under barks and tree logs," wrote Zamani. "Some species build tubular retreats and signal lines which extend out from the entrance of the web in all directions. In some species of the family, unusual longevity and resistance to unavailability of food and water has been recorded. They are venomous, but do not pose a risk to humans. According to the recent studies, Iran has an unusually high diversity of this family."
