XXX 3 will be directed by DJ Caruso, whose past work includes I Am Number Four, Disturbia and Eagle Eye. Diesel revealed Caruso's involvement with the film during an interview with io9, but noted that we might not see xXx 3 in the near future due to Diesel's busy filming schedule.
"D.J. Caruso is directing [xXx 3], which is exciting," Diesel told the website. "The big question now is which will race to production first now that F. Gary Gray is on [Furious 8]? Will xXx race to production first or will Fast race to production first?" Gray was announced as the director of Furious 8 earlier this week.
