Batman V. Superman Reportedly Sitting Out The Super Bowl

While DeadpoolTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadowsand Bourne 5 are all getting some air time during Super Bowl 50, it seems that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (are these movies competing in a secret long title competition?) will be sitting on the sidelines. Robert Kirkman Says People Gotsta Die On The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is founded upon the principle of its characters being in constant danger and at any moment a key player could be killed off. Though the series has slightly gone off track with it's "Nobody's safe" rule in its fake-out death of season six, the show's writer and creator claims that it is something the series has to hold on to. "Coming from the comic, I wrote the comic for like 8 years before the show existed. Like I always said, 'People gotsta die.' You never want to lose that," Robert Kirkman said on Inside the Actors Studio. "If you go too long a period with characters surviving and being safe you lose that element of 'Oh my god, these characters could go at any moment,'" Kirkman continued. "That's a tremendously powerful engine that drives this thing and it's very emotional but in comics it's me and the artist going, 'I guess those lines in the paper don't exist anymore. Oh, well.' It's very emotional for us because we do love these characters but it doesn't have that added element that the TV show has where these are our friends that we see everyday but it doesn't stop us. We don't care."

At a press conference at Sundance Film Festival, Trevorrow said he intends to shoot Star Wars: Episode IX on film, not digitally. The funny thing is, it's because he's treating it like a period piece.

Official Dates For Wonder Woman And Justice League Part One Announced

Ever since October 2014, when Warner Bros. announced their epic DC Comics movie slate, most assumed the release dates for their Wonder Woman and Justice League would fit into their "untitled" superhero film dates. The assumptions were correct.
Following the release of the first concept art of the cinematic Justice League and footage of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. has announced that Wonder Woman will hit theaters June 23, 2017, followed by Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017.
The DC Cinematic Universe kicks off in March with Batman v. Superman and has an impressive number of films already planned through 2020. Official dates for films such as CyborgThe Flash, and Aquaman have yet to bet announced, but we've made educated guesses based on previous information from Warner Bros. and their release date schedule. For a complete list of upcoming comic book movies, check out our comic book movie release schedule.

Cyclops & Jean Grey Are Still Learning Their Powers In X-Men: Apocalypse

Since X-Men: Apocalypse is set in 1983 -- 10 years after mutants exposed themselves on live-television -- we'll get to meet younger versions of Scott Summers/Cyclops (played by Tye Sheridan) and Jean Grey (played by Sophie Turner). They may be teenagers, but that haven't fully grasped their full potential and director Bryan Singer shared details of a scene in which their inexperience leads to team work between the two future-lovers.
"They’re in a battle scene and Scott keeps taking off his glasses but he can’t see what he’s trying to hit because he doesn’t have a visor, he doesn’t have any technology," Singer told Slash Film. "So finally I was like 'Okay, okay, wait, wait.' So Jean just grabs the back of his head and starts moving him around. She’s trying to hit the enemy, I don’t want to say who the enemy is, she’s just trying to use them as target practice. So suddenly we did that and we started playing with that and having fun with it and then we were like 'Oh sh*t, we have to service that and film the other side of it. It’s a scene now! We’re running out of time!'
"They’re kids! They don’t know what to do! She’s trying to figure out her psychic powers, which are much more powerful than she realizes. There’s some heartbreak, beautiful and climactic, again I don’t want to give anything away. But that was one beat that on the day I’m watching him do this and I’m like 'You can’t see sh*t, you don’t even know what you’re hitting,' so I said 'Grab his head, use them for target practice.' It’s so cute and it brings them together. There are many scenes that bring them together but that’s one that was like the video game version. You get Sophie Turner grabbing Tye Sheridan and using him as a point and shoot."
Singer then explains another scene in which the young mutants let off some steam at a nearby mall. "We have a scene where some of the mutants decide to play hooky while Xavier is off at the CIA," the director shared. "They steal one of his really nice cars – and an important thing about ’83 is it’s 10 years after the day that the world discovered mutants. So the world now embraces mutants and accepts them as part of society, so they can go to the mall. Obviously the instigator, Cyclops, who has only been there for like a day, convinces Nightcrawler, Jean, and Jubilee to play hooky, grab a car and go to the mall. It happens to be on a day that something bad happens…"

Star Wars Rebels Princess Leia Figure Revealed

The effort to step up action figure development of female characters continues, as Hasbro has revealed that despite only a one-episode appearance, a Star Wars Rebels prominent guest star will get her own action figure later this year. Princess Leia, who appeared in the season two episode "A Princess on Lothal," though a few years younger than her film appearances, will get her own action figure in the series.
The series is a 3.75" line, and Leia will fit in with the other figures from the series. Her figure is due to arrive in stores this fall.

Professor Xavier Will Be Hardened By The End Of X-Men: Apocalypse

When we first met James McAvoy's Charles Xavier in X-Men: Days of Future Past, he was a hopeless guy addicted to a drug that could allow him to walk but it also suppressed his mutant powers. By the end of the film, Charles kicked his drug habit and began to let hope seep back into his heart. What can we expect from him in X-Men: Apocalypse?
"I think in this movie Charles is still really one of the main stories of the movie, but if that one was him sort of going from being hopeless to having hope, this one is in some ways him having too much hope at the beginning of the movie and becoming a little more hardened by the end of the film," Simon Kinberg told JoBlo during a set visit.
Don't expect McAvoy's Professor X to resemble Patrick Stewart's version by the end of the film just because the actor finally went bald for the role. "Actually the Professor Xavier that we’re trying to arc toward at the end of this movie is slightly different than the Patrick Stewart Xavier we saw," Kinberg added. "You’re going from a guy who basically runs a school for kids and students to someone that’s gonna start a superhero fighting team. So X-Men: Apocalypse is, as Bryan Singer has said before, in many ways the origin of the X-Men and the notion of a guy who would, like I say, start a Freedom Force in the basement of his house."

Zack Snyder Stands By Man Of Steel, Teases Batman V. Superman

Director Zack Snyder definitely has had his share of criticism and of course Warner Bros. Man of Steel polarizing fans of this new direction in the process.
Cut to three years later, Snyder is now part of Warner's and DC's inner-circle of filmmakers who are going to bring some of their characters to the big screen, some for the first time. The director had the chance to open up on his stance of Man of Steel and spills a few more details on March's highly-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to Famous Monsters of Filmland
Now, the issue doesn't hit stands for another two weeks, but fansite HenryCavillNews was shown a preview by the publisher. Concerning the mayhem level of Man of Steel, the director stood by the decision, as he considered it logical and realistic.
“I stand by it, because for me, I’ve always said when I was working on Watchmen — and maybe it’s sort of left over from aWatchmen philosophical sort of thing — that there should be consequences to superheroes’ interaction with the earth," he said.
"And that was kind of the way that we approached Man of Steel. I wanted a big consequence to Superman’s arrival on earth. Certainly, Batman v. Superman sort of cashes in all its chips on the ‘why’ of that destruction.”
As for the match up of Gotham's Dark Knight and Metropolis' Big Blue Boy Scout, Snyder doesn't consider it just a physical confrontation, but something immensely more.
"It’s just incredibly satisfying and fun to dig into these two mythological characters and find a through line that allows them to come into conflict in a way that not only is philosophically satisfying, but also physically real.”
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Avatar 2 Reportedly Won't Be Ready In Time For Planned Christmas 2017 Release

Just last month James Cameron said Avatar 2 would be in theaters "Christmas of 2017," but The Wrap is now reporting that the sequel to the 2009 mega-blockbuster won't be ready for its targeted release date.
20th Century Fox declined comment, however, "individuals with knowledge of the situation confirmed" the delay to The Wrap. This is the second time that Avatar 2 has been delayed. It was originally supposed to open last Christmas.
Much of the delay is with Cameron insisting on prepping for three Avatar sequels and filming them back-to-back-to-back with state-of-the-art technology. The plan has been to release the sequels one year after another during the same holiday corridor (December 2018 and 2019).
