Paramount has announced that it will be releasing a Transformers spinoff film starring Bumblebee. The movie is slated for June 8th of 2018, and will not be helmed by franchise maestro
Michael Bay.
The film will be released in between Transformers 5 and 6, and will be shot at a lower cost than the main franchise. CEO of Paramount
Brad Grey communicated this to
The Hollywood Reporter.
"There are characters in the 'Transformers' universe that can be and should be made into their own movies.
We’ve brought in a pretty strong writing staff run by Akiva Goldsman, and they have put together eight or nine interesting stories,” said Grey. “So, between that group and Steven Spielberg’s guidance on a story level, these characters are a big business for us to pursue.”
