Zack Snyder & Ben Affleck On How Their Batman Differs From Previous Incarnations

Many comic book fans have already seen The Dark Knight portrayed on the big screen before by actors Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale, so it was very important to director Zack Snyder and the newest Caped Crusader, Ben Affleck, to bring something new to the table for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. And they believe they have!
The film is portraying Batman as seasoned hero, who spent many years fighting crime in Gotham and that has left him "kind of burnt out and asking himself what the point of it all was and going through an existential crisis."
It is the death and destruction that the people of Metropolis incurred during the General Zod and Superman fight in Man of Steelthat lights a new fire under Bruce Wayne. "You can see the idea of the innocent being victimized by whatever they are, aliens, he doesn’t know — that’s the thing that really boils his blood, as you can imagine it would," Snyder explained to USA Today. "Suddenly the innocent children of the world are all of us."
