With a hero like Arthur Curry, it wouldn't be a stretch for fans to assume that the majority of the movie takes place in the water. According to Will Beall, who is writing the screenplay for Aquaman, that is really not the case at all (via Slashfilm).
“I can tell you that not all of the action takes place underwater,” Beall said. “Some of the most fun action in the movie actually takes place on dry land.” When asked if it was completed yet, he responded: “Nope, I am still working on it with James [Wan] and Geoff [Johns]."
The character has experienced a major resurgence in recent years, thanks to Geoff John's fantastic New 52 series, which has been followed up by an equally impressive arc from writer Dan Abnett during DC's Rebirth initiative. The hero is much more than just "the water guy", and Wan and company are hoping to finally prove that to audiences in the character's solo project.
Beall was also asked if Justice League, which is still filming, would or could at some point alter plans for Aquaman.
“No, no, they know what’s happening,” Beall said. “Everybody knows what’s happening so it’s not that. It’s working out what’s going to make the best movie.”
