Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 Only Has 13 Episode Order

The second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow will air this Fall in the 8pm Thursday timeslot it started in, anchoring the four DC Comics based shows on The CW, which own that time Monday-Thursday. However, unlike the other three seasons that received full 22-episode season orders, Legends of Tomorrow got only a 13-episode order. That news came down directly from The CW President Mark Pedowitz today at the TCA presentation from the network. This season introduces the team of heroes: the Justice Society of America and team of villains: the Legion of Doom.
That's three less episodes than the first season, which did get criticized for pacing issues throughout. "[Legends] didn't perform as well as it should have" in its first season, Pedowitz said. He admitted that they "made mistakes" in the series, but he feels like they've "been fixed for season two." While it is only starting with thirteen episodes, Legends does have the possibility of gaining more; The CW kept the option of a "back nine" order, or even just ordering a few more depending on how their schedule shapes up. The CW's schedule is also fairly crowded, especially when it comes to mid-season premieres, so that may prevent more from coming.
